Help getting my SD card working on a Vaio

    Hi all,

I recently installed Windows 7 on my VGN-FZ31S Sony Vaio notebook, I have had to manually download all the drivers from here however, I have downloaded the 'Memory card reader writer driver' when I find it in my downloads, the application doesn't download, I click it and it just loads and then nothing happens.

I have been in to my device manager and there is nothing about SD cards or magicgate in the list! I'm going crazy trying to get my memory card to work but I can't as the driver won't work!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

On my netbook the SD Card Reader doesn't show up in Device Manager unless you load a card, in which case it'll show up as a disk. There is a chance if you slot in a card that W7 will find a suitable driver if you run 'add a device' in the 'Devices and Printers' Contro Panel applet.

That said, I have a card reader in my desktop that W7 refuses to acknowledge is there, nevermind recognise or install. The only cure I found was to buy and fit a different card reader.

On another desktop here a four way card reader shows up in Device Manager as four composite USB devices under the disks section, empty or loaded.

Thanks for your reply. I went to 'add a device' waited about an hour and it still hasn't found anything, I have had my Sony memory stick magicgate card in the slot the whole time too. I have even put the card in to an adapter and put that in, and nothing happens. The issue is that the driver I installed from the Vaio website won't download from my computer for some reason Maybe I can get the driver from another site?

The memory driver might need to be loaded in Vista compatability mode, but could well then work without issues... :)

    Memory Card Reader Writer Driver - 2.0G - 2.0.0.18 32 bits 332.51 kb 05/03/2008
Have you tried seeing if, with an SD card in situ, the device shows up in device manager? If so you can manually attempt to install the drivers through device manager, by pointing the installer to the extracted files you obtain from the driver mentioned above...

Solution found for Multimedia Card Reader Driver (Vaio)

    Hi there,

After a lot of trouble, I finally managed to install a good driver that works perfectly.

    LINK

Download the driver on your Desktop then right-click on the Application file and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

This now works fine on my Vaio VGN-NR32s!!

    Peace

    Hi there,

I don't thin kmy post is pointless at all
I didn't say yours was, I said mine was, and was going to upload the driver I'm using, until I noticed the thread is a month old, so would assume supragirlie has resolved the issue as she hasn't posted back in over a month.

This is why it is generally a good idea to start your own thread. Especially when resurrecting a month old thread. Just for future information, you can also use the red triaqngel and simple write resolved and the thread will be have a green check mark on it for other users to know a solution has been found. Best wishes Fabe
