I'm so narked off with Realtek!!!

Give up trying to DL drivers from their crappy FTP site

Either the transfers are so slow they corrupt and refuse to unZIP, or the archives have been sloppily packed and never contained the stated payload.

Bandwidth is so poor it's taking anywhere up to three or four hours per simple 4-5Mb download, and because it's FTP there are of course limitations to the number of downloads and threads which it's possible to simultaneously make.

I've been trying to obtain the 7.009 driver 5454k NIC driver package from here for the last three damned days - without anything except repeated errors on unpacking it. These could occur due to poor transfer speeds, or because the content is corrupted already - no way to tell for sure.

Then there are the FTP equivalents of 404 announcements; telling users that access to the files is impossible and is therefore denied.

I've never seen such a poorly maintained and ridiculously slow and appallingly poor effort at providing the general public with a file server!

Hugely embarrassing and such a poor reflection upon their organisation

    H Qdos,

Here you go - downloaded in just under 9 minutes. Have also extracted the files without any problems. Hope this helps.

I'd second the slow transfer speed. Down Them All refuses to work with the site although Opera still works. 10kb/s?

10 Kbps was a pipe-dream LOL, I was seeing DL's around 2.6Kbps optimally, falling to around 0.2Kbps at other times - timing out, failing, or corrupting... and these were problems experienced non-stop over a three day period...

I wonder if it might be Opera related. I should've perhaps tried with IE8, but cannot see why Opera should not handle FTP loads on one particular site as badly as this when on others it attains breakneck speeds...

Yes, especially the first download location is mostly bit-dripping slow - I am usually lucky with the second location breathing nearly full speed. It's not browser related. However, this is from Australia.
