Bluetooth Dongle not working in Windows 7

My bluetooth dongle isn't working in Windows 7, it worked perfectly fine in vista, in which it worked fine. I can't figure out how to get it working with a driver, I never had a install cd or anything vista and xp ran it fine.

If someone can direct me to find a driver for this it would help greatly. I've tried to install the generic bluetooth driver and that didn't work either.

    Please help!

    Thanks!

what kind of bluetooth dongle is it?
a search for bluetooth dongles states that there are at least 50 different types from different manufactures, and probably none of them use the same driver.
tye any text that you see on the dongle here, and we can try to find the right driver.

Hello oneton95, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Have you looked here: Click the Start button and type Device manager
Look for yellow exclamation points, specifically for your bluetooth dongle?

    Cheers!

Unless Im mistaken, you'll need to have the bluetooth software installed for that dongle so that you can configure pairing?

    bluetooth name

Under device manager, all it says is "bluetooth peripheral device" it says it 2 times under "other devices".

which is why you need to look at the dongle itself.
does it have any markings, or does it have a box?
do you remember what company made it?

After you install a driver that you think is good (check device manager), make sure that bluetooth (in services) is set to automatic. Services can be found by typing services in search.

Excellent! Now right click on those devices, select properties, then update driver. First try the Automatic search. If that doesn't do it, let us know and we can try plan B.

My brother is on windows 7 as well and has a bluetooth dongle which used to work on vista, but doesn't automatically work on 7. It did come with a driver CD, but this one didn't work on 7 either. I've installed the dongle for him by going to the manufacturer's site (in this case trust.com), and downloaded the latest drivers and it was working. Now my brother isn't really good with computers and wanted to install the dongle on another computer running windows 7 as well. He used a different approach and downloaded some automatic bluetooth software installer at Broadcom.com - Bluetooth RF Silicon and Software Solutions, the Widcomm Bluetooth Software.

This one automatically installed his trust bluetooth dongle as well. So you could give that a try, although as suggested before, you should look at the dongle itself, which manufacturer is it from?

If it is Microsoft, you have to go to their website to download the drivers/software. I learned this the hard way with my MS Presenter 8000.
