    Wireless USB adapter driver problem

Today i bought a wireless G USB adapter, plugged into my laptop (windows 7 x86) and it worked fine installed correctly with the windows 7 drivers i downloaded from the advantek website.

however when i plugged it into my desktop which is runnign windows 7 x64, it doesnt work. the software installs fine and the drivers too, but when i try to look for a signal , network diagnosis is tellin me that there may be a problem with the drivers. 64bit is supported, and still nothing. any ideas of what is going on?

Alot of those USB adapter require installing drivers before plugging into system.

Also may just be a faulty adapter, some of the ones i used before overheated a bit resulting in bad or no connection.

Have you tried not installing any drivers, and letting windows install it's own default ones? it worked like that for me.

i have tried installing the drivers first, and then plugging the device in, and vice versa, but no luck. i did notice that the dongle gets very hot very fast.

The heat isn't something to worry about, they generally get fairly hot.

Are the drivers your downloading W7 ones or Vista ones?

And are you using an x64 driver?
