    [WIN7] Promise fasttrak 378 Sata driver - K8V Deluxe

    Hello people,

    I'm in a fight with windows 7.

The problem is i'm having is that i can't find any sata drivers for my Promise 378 controller.

I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 edition.
    But no luck so far.
In the bios i have set the promise chipset to operate in IDE mode.
Because i'm using only 1 drive.
Tried the VIA drivers for the onboard chipset as well, they only operate in raid.
    So those won't work.

Spend like 5 hours online googling for it but no luck so far.

I am using the following setup:

    Amd Athlon 3000+ x64
    Asus K8V-Deluxe
    Seagate Baracuda Sata 1 TB
    Ati Radeon x1950 pro.

If someone could help me out, i'd appreciate it.

    thx!

    VIA controller for Win7

It's always better to use the VIA controller that's on the chipset for an operating system as opposed to the Promise software...look for version 5.80G of the VIA controller on their website, install, reboot and enter VIA configuration utility, select your one drive to create a boot array, reboot and install Win7.

Use the via chip as recommended above, unless you are planning to run raid.
