    Hello everyone,

yesterday I bought the LG N2B1 NAS with integrated Blu-ray rewriter. And I have exactly the same problem as hfb. When I connect to the Blu-ray drive with ISCSI, I get access to the disk.
I can browse through the folders, but if I change into the Stream-folder of a Blu-ray (with the larger files) or if I try to burn a data Blu-ray or if I try to watch a Blu-ray with PowerDVD 8, I get the 12E BSOD.

Normal DVDs are no problem over ISCSI.

I have Windows 7 Professional x64. My wife has a Vista Home Premium x64 and she got no problems accessing Blu-rays over ISCSI.

I also tried copying the msiscsi.sys from her Vista to my Win 7, but I still get the BSOD while accessing Blu-rays.

I attach two minidump files. One with the normal msiscsi.sys of Win7 and one with the Vista driver.

I uninstalled my anti virus software and updated the NIC drivers. Without any success.

    Update:

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x86 on my Laptop. And before any driver installation or Windows Update, I tried accessing my Blu-Ray rewriter over iSCSI. And I got also the BSOD 12E with the same message.

If it will help, I can provide this minidump also.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Eje

    Hi Eje,
I have a workaround that works for me - great fun to hear if it works for you too:
Rather than starting the movie directly from PowerDVD, start the movie from the drive: Go to start, select computer, right click on the blu-ray drive and select the option "Play with Power DVD". It works, but it is very fragile. If you e.g. go to cinema mode, then it will crash, but if you leave it as is, then it starts playing the movie. I have also upgraded to Win 64, and that made the difference. Win 32 still crashes, no matter what I try to do. I run PowerDVD 9 in the ultimate version (I think that is needed to play Blu-ray due to licensing restrictions).

    Hi hfb,

unfortunatly this doesn't work for me. However it wouldn't be enough for me to just watch Blu-Ray on my PC. I want to use Blu-Ray for my data storage and backup.

So I'm still stuck with this error. And if the problem doesn't get fixed until the begin of next week, I have to decide: switch back to Vista - or returning the NAS to the store.

    A wild guess...

    Hi Eje,
In my many attempts to fix this error, I have also come across a driver called something like storport.sys. If your wifes Vista x64 PC has this driver also, maybe it will make a difference to copy this one also to your win 7 PC? (remember to make a backup!!). I am not sure if this will work or if the different versions of the software can work well together, but maybe - just maybe - it works.

    Hi hfb,

yesterday - shortly before your post - I found StarPort from Rocketdivision (iSCSI, FCoE and AoE (ATA-over-Ethernet) Initiator for Microsoft Windows. Network storage devices, remote data storage, remote file sharing, iscsi software initiator) - it's free for personal use. I deactivated the Microsoft iSCSI service and installed the StarPort software. And it works with my Win7 32bit and 64bit. I watched a Blu-Ray and right now, I'm burning a data Blu-Ray without BSOD.

    Good luck,
    Eje
