Driver Issues
I just installed Windows 7 on my Dell Latitude D505 and my screen resolution is terrible. I'm having trouble locating the right drivers on the Dell site and to tell you the truth, I don't even know what I need.
Does anyone have any sugguestions? I really appreciate the help. |

Hi and Welcome to SF.
Parhaps you might need to go to the manufacturer's site. Go into your Device Manager, go to Display Adapters, tell us what you have? |

I have found the site above, however I do not use the dell laptops so I can not comment on how useful it is. |

If the device is manufactured by Intel, doesn't really matter if it's a Dell, Toshiba or HP etc, it's the device type that matters.

Your particular Latitude came with either the 855GM or the 830M Graphics. Drivers & Downloads= To find out which one you'll need to go to device manager>right click on display adapter (unless it already shows) properties>details tab>drop down menu>hardware id. Copy and Paste the ID string this will allow us find out which one you have. Then you can be directed to the proper driver for that model. As you can see by the Dell site they list drivers for XP as well as the list provided in the above post #3.You'll have to try and install them in compatibility mode XP here is how Compatibility Mode. This is an older system so I hope they will install for you, once we know which Intel graphics model# you have. Fabe

I was running on 32-bit previously and it made me wipe the drive basically to update to 64-bit. Windows saved all my documents but the drivers seem to be lost and scrambled. I was able to find Dell... |
