External Drive cannot be accessed in windows 7

Hi. I have a seagate External Hard drive and recently I've upgraded my ASUS K40IN Windows Vista to Windows 7, now I am unable to get my ext Hard drive to be recognised. Someone told me that it could be the USB driver is not updated, Is that true? Can anyone help me please. Thanks

    Hi and welcome,

So when you plug her in, your machine doesn't scan or it scans, but comes up with no new hardware found?

    HI Aem,
Thanks for your quick reply. When I check "My Computer" it will show me that I have a new drive "G", but I cannot get access when I double click the "G" drive.
    Thanks'

Ok go to your Device Manager and locate the device, does it have a yellow exclamation mark on it?

Yes, it works with other computers. It seems that my External Hard Drive cannot work in Windows 7. I have a laptop running on XP and Mac and it works perfectly fine.

Yes the drive exist. On Sunday I tried using my niece Laptop with Win 7, and it has the same problem, the drive is shown in "My Computer" but access denied. My brother used his other ext hard drive and his ext hard druive works on my Win 7. I am puzzled.

Are there is data on this HDD. Data corruption or device lockdown could prevent you from accessing, ie BitLocker On the Go.
