Hello,

I currently have a pc with an Asus P5WD2 Premium motherboard. Tonight I upgraded from windows XP to Windows 7 and began attempting to install previous software however it does not seem to be recognized by windows 7. In particular the software which came with my motherboard is not able to be installed. From my searching the Asus website does not provide drivers for Windows 7 yet. Is there any way to get around this issue so that my computer will recognize my Linksys wireless card and audio devices?

Moderators please move this to the most appropriate section.

Thank you,

Peter

You should have 99% of your drivers on the Win 7 disk or via Windows Update. It would help if you could fill out your system specs so we know what we are dealing with. Do you have the 32 or 64 bit version of Win 7 and also which version is it?

Agreed, try Windows Update. That will most likely provide you with all the drivers you need. For the Linksys wifi card, go to their website and download the driver. Then go to Windows Update.

+1 Unless the driver is missing in the Device Manager or malfunctions, you have the latest drivers at install and from Windows Updates.

This isn't XP, or even Vista. MS spent a fortune sponsoring the WHQL partnership with all manufacturers to build WIn7 drivers, so that they would have them first in the installer and via Updates.

The Linksys adpater driver is the rare exception; my only missing driver in a year.

I installed the 64 bit version of windows 7 home premium.

Motherboard : Asus P5WD2 Premium
Processor: Pentium 805 D
Wireless Card: Linksys
Graphics Card: GeForce 7900 (I believe though it might be the 7600)
If there is any other information you need please let me know.

I have gone into my devices and under my computer's hardware it does not show any Linksys. I attempted to install the Linksys driver but W7 would not allow me to complete the instalation.

If it does have the drivers, what would some other causes be for the computer not recognizing my wireless card. I should also add the sound is not recognized either so I would assume it's due to the motherboard? Thank you for the replys.

Hi LostDog, and welcome to sevenforums :)
The Asus website provides drivers for your motherboard for both Vista 32bit and 64bit Operating Systems.
As Windows 7 is able to use Vista drivers, you can download and install your drivers from this link.
The Vista 32 bit drivers will work for W7 32 bit, and the Vista 64 bit drivers for W7 64 bit. You can also download your updated application etc from that link.
Like the previous 2 posters said, Windows Update should have you covered for most of the necessary drivers, be sure to check the optional updates also ;) If you have any troubles with unknown devices in device manager after you've done with both WU & that link I gave you, post back here and we'll see what we can do to help.

Did you look under Network Adapters?

On the Device Manager View tab, show Hidden Devices.

What is the exact model of your Linksys card? If you have an installer, run the .exe.

Thank you, I will try the drivers on that link. I would recieve the updates if I could get my wireless card recognized. I guess my best option is to use my friends computer to download the drivers?

Thanks again, I will try that in the morning.

If anyone has any further suggestions I would appreciate any input.

p.s. microsoft tech support has been useless for me.

Okay I hooked my computer directly up to the internet with an ethernet cable however the sound still is not working and the Linksys card is not being recognized. I think part of me needs to get a good nights rest and check back in the morning.

Thanks, I did try to re plug it in and install the driver. I plan to fiddle with it in the morning. Got the sound to work by installing that audio driver from Asus for the vista 64bit. I will look over the other drivers tomorrow. It may be resolved if all those vista drivers work.

Thanks for the help guys,
Peter
