Installing vista 64 bit motherboard drivers in windows seven?

    Hi all,

Is it a good idea to Install vista 64 bit motherboard drivers in windows seven?

I have asus p5w dh deluxe motherboard.

Windows Seven is running ok, but the harddisk score is a good deal less when compared to vista.

So, is this a good idea or better leave it alone at the moment?

    thx

Hi Boris, well the HDD score shows a really low score because of Write Caching being enabled on the drive. If you disable write caching and re run your wei, it will show a normal score. It has some problem recognizing it in 7. But it's usually better to have it enabled, as it gives better performance with the drive.

Thx for your quick reply! I have checked all drives and they are all enabled. The score I get is not sooo low (3.0) and I dont really notice any slow drive speeds, but in vista i had about round 5.

    testing further :)

That's usually what it will be with Write Caching enabled..3.0, but if you disable it you will usually get 5.9 or higher. But like I said, it's better to re enable it once you're done testing as you get better performance with it enabled, not worse. Maybe they'll fix that bug in the WEI at some point.

WEI doesn't really work properly on W7 (any build) yet. You only need to run it (even a score of 1.0 can be OK) so that you can activate AERO themes on W7.

Incidentally on build 7048 you can still enable all the aero themes etc even if the WEI doesn't work --there are problems with WEI on W7 on some computers. I don't know about build 7022 however.

Just optimize your computer with published "Tweaks" and irrespective of what the WEI records your system will fly.

    Cheers
