    [Solved] C media CMI8738 driver for 7

    Hello!
I have been messing around with this problem the whole day now and still nothing.
My problem is that i have a Chaintech 9PJL1 motherboard with the C-Media CMI8738 audio chip (checked it with Everest). I just changed my OS from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7. I can't get any sound out of it anymore. It worked perfectly fine with the Windows XP.
I tried to download the latest audio drivers for the CMI8738 audio chip from this site:
    C-Media Company Information
    Nothing worked.
I even tryed to download the XP drivers and run it in XP compatible mode (both SP2 and SP3) but it gives me the same error over and
over again "Please plug-in the c-media audio device device".
I also tryed to update the drivers under device manager and with windows update.
    Please help!

    Hey!
I checked the .inf files, found like 12 of them and the PCI\VEN number matched in every one of them: "PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_0111...".
Although the manufacturer didn't match. It says "NTamd64" so i quess it's not for intel.
Could someone dl the driver and double check it for me!?
    It's the CMI8738 one.

    Problem solved!
I finally found my original driver CD for the mobo and installed the default audio drivers. Funny thing was that i didn't select the compatible mode. Maybe 7 switched it on for me.

    Go to control panel->sound
Under "playback" select the playback device and then click "configure" or right click on the device and "configure speakers"
    A speaker test window opens.
Select "5.1 surround" under audio channels and then "test" the speakers.
If the speakers are connected the correct way then they should make some sound.
Test the outputs with headphones to make shure that you havent connected the cables of your 5.1 device the wrong way.
