jpg printing wizard does not work.

    Hello,

i tried to print a jpg file today, and i experienced a weird software/driver issue:
When i rightclicked on the .JPG file and clicked print, windows 7 opened some kind of wizard. I checked all the settings of both the printer and the wizard. Regardless of any settings, this wizard resulted in a blank page being printed. The inkhead of the printer moved back and forth, but no ink was being put on the page.

When i opened the .jpg file in openoffice Draw and printed from there, it used the default printer window of windows 7. This printed the page without any problems.

My printer is a Canon inkjet MP160.

Can you do a screen shot of that wizard? Does it have an error message? If you can please share it with us so we can see exactly what the screen says. By the way your describing it you might just need to install an updated driver for the Canon Printer :)

    more information

The wizard to which i was referring is simply the default program windows 7 uses when you rightclick on a jpg file and select "print".
Additional information: I use windows home premium 64 bit, and the jpg file was of a scanned document, a4 size, which contained only black and white.
The driver i used previously was the one that came with windows 7. (Version reported by windows: 6.1.7600.16385). Just today i installed a new driver from the Canon website, dutch Version 1.01 64 bits, (version reported by windows: 12.1.4.0.)
This new driver produced the exact same result as described in my previous post. BTW, personally i think this is a software issue and not a driver issue, as printing from openoffice worked perfectly.

Unfortunately unless your driver is windows seven specific and Cannon also supplies applications for seven you nay be stuck. Without being able to use that function. I apologize as I can't seem to find your model on the Canon site. would you mind linking me to the driver page. Thanks. Fabe

    no dice

i did not install the software mentioned in the pdf, just the driver.
Just to re-itterate, the problem is that the jpg is not properly printed when you right click on the jpg-file and click print (which, according to taskmanager is handled by explorer.exe.)
However, in Openoffice Draw the same .jpg file was printed just fine.
So the driver sends information to the printer, but apparently explorer does not send its info to the driver properly.
As far as the printer being plugged in or not, its properly installed in the hardware window. The installation file of the driver removed the previous version of the driver automatically.
If the printer was not correctly installed, i would not have been able to print from Openoffice.

Just today, i tried to print another .jpg file with 24 bit color, and got the same result. Blank page, both when printing in black and white and when printing in color.
