    SDHC

watch out for the "SDHC" high capacity cards those have been giving trouble with card readers not wanting to read them.

On the font of the PC it only says HP Pavilion V Series. On the Support Guide front cover it says:

"HP Pavilion Desktop PC v7000 Series" I know from looking at the HP USA site that there are quite a number of PCs in the v7000 series though.

Pebbly you are a genius. I had only tried two of my SD cards and neither of them worked. Just tried a Compact Flash and that worked. Now if I can only solve the SD problem. Of course, it could be the reader or the SD themselves. I will try again in a couple of hours time when I have a little more time.

Many thanks for your help all.

Nope it isn't a "SDHC" high capacity card. Just a plain HP 512 mb SD and a 256 MB Buffalo card. Have tried a 2 GB card as well but it won't read it. Guess I will just have to use a USB card reader for the SD's instead. I have check all the cards and they are OK. Thanks once again.

I have my doubts about whether these drivers are getting installed. I tried uninstalling all four drivers as mentioned on HP's site. When I booted up again I get the same ones back which means that the originals ones which you suggested I install never made it in - despite saying that they had been installed successfully. I have downloaded the latest SCR331/SCR531 CCID USB drivers but am a bit baffled as to how I go about installing them through plug-n-play. I tried updating the Generic SD driver pointing it towards the unrarred folder but, once again, I don't think that it got installed.

    Updating Drivers

when you go to device manager and want to update device drivers choose let me pick what drivers to install then it will present you with a screen to select what type of hardware you want to update look for mass storage device once you choose that it will present you with a list of compatible drivers on that screen it will show you the various drivers on the machine which you can choose from pick which one you want to install good luck
