    0x0000007a error while printing

I have an HP deskjet f4185 all-in-one , I've downloaded and installed the windows 7 drivers for my printer from the hp website.
I am unable to print anything as i get an error 0x0000007a while trying to print a test page. If i try to print something from Microsoft word nothing happens.
All the other features like scanning, copying are working fine.
I even called HP customer support but they tried everything they could and said the problem is with the operating system windows 7.
They said there is some error with the spooler as when 'm trying to print the printing tasks do not appear in the printer queue.
I could not find a solution for this problem anywhere.
Hope someone can help me with this.

    Thanks in advance

There is a patch from HP for Windows 7 problems. You might want to try this patch out. If your still having problems you might want to reinstall the drivers after delating them.

Patch link is down the page near the bottom, the patch is supposed to help with Vista to Win 7 upgrades but it may work for you.

What version of Windows 7 are you using - 32 or 64?
Are you using the correct drivers?
Have you tried printing from something other than Word?

As for the "I even called HP customer support but they tried everything they could and said the problem is with the operating system windows 7." - This is typically the get you off the phone anwswer because we can't fix it so we'll blame Microsoft.

Hmmm.... "HP" DID release "Windows 7" drivers for both 32 and 64-bit editions. Now that doesn't mean you can't have problems but, why is it Microsoft's problem?

At any rate let us know about the questions posed.

    Thanks.

'm using windows 7 32 bit... and yeah 'm sure i've downloaded and installed drivers for hp deskjet f4185 for windows 7 32 bit...
people from HP customer support tried to solve the problem for a long time... they made me install some generic printer drivers to check if i can print using that but i couldn't. They made me select this option "print directly from printer" instead of "spool print drivers so program finishes printing faster" but that dint help either.
They said there was some problem with the spooler in the operating system.

I have exactly the same problem with an HP Photosmart C3180. I have been through two lengthy rounds with HP on this - to no avail. We uninstalled and reinstalled everything remotely related to the printer - no joy. I'm looking for an intelligent next step towards narrowing down the issue. The machine is a new Windows 7 Professional 64-bit installation.

Windows 7 and HP printing problem error 0x0000007a

    Hi all,

@Pranavwanted: I have exactly the same problem.

    My scenario....
I have a HP Pavilion DV6 1216sa which i upgraded from vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. Initially I had no problems printing to my home printer. The printer is a HP Deskjet 2360 which is connected via USB to my windows XP Pro, custom build desktop. So essentially I am printing across my home network.
I get exactly the same issue when trying to print a test page....error 0x0000007a. When i print through any of my programs ie outlook, adobe acrobat, stardraw av, word, excel etc etc the software responds as if the document has printed, but it does appear in my print cue and subsequently does not print. I have deleted the printer from my devices and re-installed the driver with latest version direct from the hp website. i have also tried installing the original driver from the supplied disk that came with the printer. On top of this i have even tried connecting the printer directly to my laptop via its USB connection and it still does not work. Yet when i print from my desktop it the printer works fine. I have successfully printed from my laptop to another HP printer in my office across the network and also a brother printer across the network, but work is 100 miles away from home so i cant just go into work to print documents. I am currently having to print to pdf files, transfer them across my network to my desktop and then print them direct from there (which is a right pain in the rear end!!!)
So i called HP today and they tried to tell me that it was down to my antivirus software and my file permissions. Contact AVG they said. Get them to show you how to set permissions for all HP printer files. However, when i called AVG they said that because i was using the free version that they could not provide support without me buying a subscription. Anyway, out of curiosity i uninstalled AVG and went through the steps to reinstall my printer.........IT STILL DOESN'T WORK....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHH
Can anyone help with any suggestions as this is really beginning to annoy me.
PS Sorry for the major rant. I felt i had to explain everything that i had gone thru to try and resolve this issue.

Same issue. Re-installed windows 7. Deleted MS office 2007, installed open office, works great for all printing. Word 2007 hosed it up.
