Need ATI Mobility M1 Driver for Inspiron 3800

I know it's an old unit but it still works great for work related stuff. Here's the problem. I downloaded the newest driver from Dell for win XP (6 13 10 5779) and @ first it wouldn't load using the normal setup utility. You can however load the driver through the Control Panel using the "Update driver" feature then pointing it to the appropriate file. When the computer attempts to restart it won;t, causing an error message and Win7 will restore to the previous settings. Obvious conflict

    Any ideas?

I decided to go back to Windows 2000 Pro. Nothing has ever ran as fast and stable on this old Laptop.
