Blue Screen When I Install Driver

I'm trying to install windows 7 (x86) on my music production computer and I'm getting the blue screen of death during the process of installing the driver. The driver was designed for windows xp 32 bit however so were a few other drivers from the same company designed around the same time that actually work fine.

The drivers that worked installed automatically. The driver that doesn't work belongs to a USB controller made by Open Labs who say they wont be officially windows 7 ready until Fall (ouch).

I found the "unknown" device in the device manager and tried assigning the driver and when I do... blue screen.

Any thoughts or am I just SOL?

    Thanks!
    Dan

IS the driver located in an installer? If it is have you tried right clicking the installer->Properties->Compatibility->Run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2?

Try that while also running the installer as an administrator
