Help getting all drivers on Sony CR4000

Windows 7 just became available to me through my university and I just installed the x64 version on my computer. Upgraded from Vista Premium x86. I've got a sony VGN-CR4000. I got most everything installed and running but there's a few drivers that i cannot get to work. I cant find a driver for the SD and memory stick card slots, and the driver to get all the functions on my keyboard to work. I have the recovery disks and tried to install the original forms of the drivers but that didnt work. In the device manager it lists a mass media controler and an unknown device. I went to the Microsoft update catalog and dl'd the Texas Instruments Inc - Storage - Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller but that didnt work either. Anyone know anything else I can try?

    Thanks

Here is your vista driver support page -
    Sony eSupport - VGN-CR4000 - Software Updates & Drivers

If you any trouble installing drivers because the drivers are written for vista, and you get a OS mismatch error do the following :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Im at a loss as to why you installed W7 64bit version as your drivers from Vista are 32 bit, and you would of had to of done a clean install, as you cant upgrade from a 32 bit OS to a 64 bit OS.

If you have any further problems with the drivers on the above site maybe you should consider the 32 bit version of W7.

I was able to get the sd card reader working, but i still can't get the fn button and functions working on the keyboard.

I guess i should have stated better, i did to a clean install to windows 7 64bit. I checked my comp and it said it was compatible for 64 so I figured that would be better so i can take advatage of my full 4gb of ram etc.

My father has a toshiba laptop and the fn funtions can be turned off and on - its in the start menu under toshiba - then utilities - the fn-esse, but this may not be the case on the sony and you may need to download from the site or find utilities on the install dvd, but look for something similar - download the manual - look on the driver site - i just had a check there is a update under VIAO Media Software for functions.
    Almost :)
Get back to me if you cant fix. Would then suggest Intel chipset software next -http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

I finally got it figured out. I had to download a series of sony utilities and had to install them in a specific order. It's all working good now. I'm liking windows 7 pretty good so far, it seems pretty fast and stable.

    thanks for the advice.

This is how I got it to work. Go to this site ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/ and download the latest versions of the Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver, Sony Shared Library, setting utility series, and vaio event service, and vaio control center if you want that too. You only need the first 3 for everything to work. Then just install them in this order, rebooting after each one.

    SFEP driver
    Sony Shared Library
    Setting Utility Series
Vaio Control Center (if you want it)
    Vaio event service

It worked for me on my CR series, should be the same on your FZ series. Hope this helps.

I am unable to unpack the Setting Utility Series after downloading, have tried this twice but each time it says its "unexpected end of archive" - would the earlier one do? or can someone put a working one somewhere I can download it. Thanks.

Did you download it from the link I posted in my above post? Maybe try downloading a different version, or try unziping it with a different utility like 7-zip or something.
