    Starting to HATE Windows 7

Hey guys, I got a problem with Windows 7 that is about to make me go back to XP. I received my Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista installed and hated Vista. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and it automatically installed all the drivers and stuff...but I had some problems.

First, my webcam microphone wasnt working. When I went to select a microphone the option wouldnt even be there, before it used to say "Laptop Integrated Microphone" but now nothing is there. I googled "Windows 7 Inspiron 1525 webcam drivers" and downloaded all the different types I could(uninstalling previous drivers before hand). I even downloaded a new sound driver...still nothing.

Another problem is my EasyCap. I used to have it work on Vista but I tried installing the drivers and according to setup everything works, but when I plug it in all I see is "USB Video Capture Device" with the little triangle next to it.

I'm running 32bit, and any help would be MUCH appreciated, if I cant figuire this out Im going to XP.

    Hi and welcome

If it worked with vista drivers it still with. you just need to install them in compatibility mode. right click the installer>properties>compatibility>check vista. BTW, I also have the 1525 and mine works. Dell supports the 1525 in 32bit.

I highly doubt the webcam has it's own microphone...rather it's likely using the integrated microphone from the sound card on the laptop. Go to Dell's site, to to downloads, punch in your service tag and then look at the audio drivers. If that IS already installed, check the settings and ensure that Microphone isn't muted.

    I don't use EasyCap...so I don't really have a solution for you there.

Seems that with a bit of time, this will get worked out. Seems a shame to have to resort to an 8+ year old operating system which is slowly fading away.

Please also make sure you have the latest BIOS version installed, you can flash it from Windows, and I would also look for the latest 'chipset driver' for your model. These updates have solved many issues.

    Cheers!
