Always happens like that.

Then I wouldn't uninstall the driver just yet. Maybe see if you could borrow a mouse or wait for another member to post another idea

Your touchpad should still work without the driver. You'll still be able to move the cursor, but won't be able to scroll a page. Try installing the newer driver. That should fix your problem.

Also if the touchpad does stop working you can navigate through the driver install process with just a keyboard. It takes some playing around with the arrow, tab, and menu keys but most things can be done with no mouse at all in the worst case scenario.
