JH55, sorry I didn't see your later posts but good to see you got it working

    makinsushi...

I had a search online and the only thing i can suggest is to try CanoScan Toolbox 4.5 rather than 4.9 which is on my first post.

    Hi All,
I am having difficulty installing my canon ir1570 printer on my laptop with a windows 7 64 bit o.s. I have tried all drivers from canon and their website but none works. I have tried manual installation, but windows update does not update with this printer model. Please help somebody.
As I have mentioned before, helping with a piece of hardware I do not own is tricky.

What I did to get the LiDE 35 to work was to look for a newer, similar version of the scanner and just force install drivers to see if any would work.

With regards to your scanner I Googled "canon ir1570" and came across this site, which says:

This product has been discontinued and replaced by:
    Canon iR1020 photocopier - printer
    Canon iR1024a photocopier - printer
    Canon iR1024F photocopier - printer

So maybe you could try these:

    Canon iR1020 ~ Canon iR1024a / iR1024F

    Worth a try

Several attempts according to Canon website for driver downloads could not get my Lide35 to work with Win7. Your guide as per below did. Thanks.

    Hi,

I figured out how to get this scanner to work in Vista 64 about a year ago and have now got it working in Windows 7 x64. So in case you didn't see my Vista post i thought I'd post it in here also.

It uses the Canoscan LiDE 60 scanner 64bit driver:

Files required: Winrar, lide60vst6411111a_64en. Canoscan Toolbox 4.9 or 4.5

Use Winrar, right click the file and select Extract to lide60vst6411111a_64en\

Open the folder it creates 'ide60vst6411111a_64en'

Inside the folder you'll find SetupSG.exe, extract it the same way again and you will find the driver

Go to your Device Manager (right click Computer - select Manage)

Plug in the scanner so you can see it pop up in the Device Manager

Right click it, Update / Install driver

Select Browse my computer for driver then Let me pick from a list of drivers, just select 'All' then click OK

Select Have Disk then Browse and select the CNQL60.INF file inside the SetupSG folder.

It will say that it isnt the correct driver and may not work..... but its lying

    ~ CanoScan Toolbox ~

If you do not install this it won't work.

I use version 4.9 which can be found here
If you get the "Unable to select TWAIN source" error then try version 4.5

Install was the CanoScan Toolbox, it will ask you to reboot, do so and you're done

Just thought id make this a bit clearer.

    Thanks Scott

I got the driver extracted just fine, but kept trying to INSTALL the driver without picking from the list and then going to the IMAGING DEVICES and HAVE DISK / BROWSE. Once I did that, the LIDE 60 inf was recognized and the scanner worked.

    Again, once you have extracted:

    CNLQ60.INF

Open the DEVICE MANAGER / PROPERTIES / HARDWARE / PROPERTIES / DRIVER / UPDATE DRIVER / BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DEVICE DRIVER / LET ME PICK FROM A LIST OF DRIVERS / IMAGING DEVICES / CANON / I HAVE DISK / BROWSE for the extracted CNLQ60.INF

CanoScan 4.5 nor 4.9 worked for me, but a shareware program called FASTSTONE worked great, and other programs are also recognizing the TWAIN driver now, thanks again

Yesterday, for the first time since possibly writing this thread, I needed to do some scanning. So dug out my scanner, found this page and ..... the driver links were dead

So I've found new ones and edited the main post, followed my instructions and everything worked perfectly, I didn't even have to reboot Windows at the end!

    Thank you me

I have followed the instructions, rebooted, tried both Toolbox versions and still get the message: Cannot communicate with scanner. Any ideas?

Just found and followed your instructions. Brilliant. My workhorse HP scanner died and I broke out the cannon and started searching for drivers. Found your post and was scanning 10 minutes latter.

    Hi Scoutfu!
I followed your steps in your post, and it seemed promising 'til I tried scanning and got the msg re the TWAIN thingie. cano toolbox 4.9 didn't work so i installed 4.5 as you've suggested but the same msg just keeps popping when i try to scan.
I've already edited the path in the environment variable, installed and uninstalled the drivers, reboot but still no progress.
I dont want to give up on this as I just got this old scanner from a friend for a very cheap deal, and been trying to solve this error since yesterday (w/o sleep cause i'm dead if my family finds out i cant make this thing work)
    please please help! :B

    thank you!
