an error occurred during setup. restart your computer, then run setup

The Epson UK link from Almac worked for me today and I cleared the Appdata Temp folder as described there but was still unable to install the Epson Workforce 645 Epson Scan Driver.
I don't want to pay Microsoft $99.00/hour or Dell $89.00 to resolve this Windows 7 issue.
    Any other ideas?

    Hi,
I would suggest using a different DVD drive, or maybe copying the installation files to a USB stick (4gb or bigger) and performing a USB install.
The error 0x80070017 translates to "CRC Error" which means that the files that are being copied from the disk are not making it to the hard drive with the same structure, meaning that the "original" files on the disk are being modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the "destination" location on your hard drive during the install.
This usually means either a bad DVD, or a read error on the DVD drive.
The easiest thing is to make a USB drive to install Window s7 (and it's WAY faster than DVD too!)

installation problem with epson scan onto Windows 7

Thanks to all who replied and tried to help me.

After working with Dell and other very technically PC savvy friends the only thing that worked was to re-initialize my PC back to Factory settings and then install the Epson printer drivers. Everything was fine after I reset the PC back to Factory settings. Apparently my Windows 7 64 bit installation was very corrupted, which surprised me because I hadn’t installed any unusual software. I noticed that resetting back to Factory corrected some other issues I was having as well.

    SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:

If you are using windows 7, a fix can be to alter the TEMP and TMP variables.

Rightclick on 'Computer' and choose 'Properties'
    Choose 'advanced system settings'
    Click on 'Environment Variables'
Click on 'TEMP' and choose 'Edit ...'
Replace text with "c:]windows\temp" and click 'OK'
Click on 'TMP' and choose 'Edit ...'
Replace text with "c:]windows\temp" and click 'OK'
Click twice on 'OK' and close screens.
Run Setup.exe and it should install Epson Scan software.

    Good luck!
