Help with drivers for HP Laptop

    Thanks, Fabe. It looks like you were posting when I was updating my post... here's the current status:

    I just realized that I ran the install in compatibility mode... but not the actual software post-install. Changed the properties on the QLBCTRL.exe to run it in Vista compatibility mode... now the program launches without warnings, but it doesn't appear to work, either. *sigh* what a pain

    ... and I do appreciate your help here.

    Well you not alone in this their are a lot of threads on this problem, It seems until HP addresses it I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe another member will in time. Sorry couldn't have been of more help . Fabe

    one is the chipset, im not sure what the other is i never figured that out before my dv6 series laptop went belly up. yes the components for dv6 and 9 series are the same, the difference is in screen size and an additional drive bay.
