New install do I need to load drivers  

Here's the models support page - Sony eSupport - VGN-TZ298N/X - Software Updates & Drivers, so if you are 32bit, the Vista drivers should work.

That will be your best bet for what Windows hasn't found a driver for, or if you have issues with the ones it has. I've attached a 64bit Alps driver, one that I use, that will give you vertical scrolling back.

If you clean installed 32bit, it would make things a hell of a lot easier. The general consensus here is to clean install, as upgrading does have issues, but that's not to say it doesn't work, so the choice is yours, 45mins, or a couple of hour to reinstall.
