But unfortunatly I have the same problem as mikko. After installing the driver according to the tutorial, I had the correct resolution but the same problem with the mouse arrow. I re-installed the driver, but got the same problem. Maybe it's a "aero"-problem? Anyway, this is how I "fixed" it ... I changed the Mouse-Scheme to <none> (I don't know how this is called in english Win7) and deactivated the "Mouse Shadow"-Option ... now the mouse arrow is fine for me ... Maybe someone has noticed this problem and has found a better workaround? Once again thumbs up to lexxion... Regards, foofuu PS: The notebook is a Sony Vaio VGN-T2XP |

Better solution, with no problems of freezing when maximizing the media player as with with the 6.14.10.3732 driver.
1. Click 'Start' and in 'Search' type 'msconfig'. On the boot tab, tick 'OS boot information' (this is to get rid of the blue screen during boot). Exit but don't restart now. 2. Download http://justendeal.com/driver/855gm_vista_driver.zip unpack and then update "standard vga adapter" with this driver, make sure you choose that you have a disk and point to the directory where you unpacked the zip. 3. Reboot. Now you have version 6.14.10.4656. |

I have an old Toshiba Tecra A2 with Intel 82852/82855 video chipset.
I did all the steps: uninstalling the device, edit vgapnp.sys, restart, install "manually" the driver from Intel_6_14_10_3722; I runned the command line command to disable Windows Driver signature check. I had the BSOD: This was probably caused by the following module: ialmnt5.sys (ialmnt5+0x152F9) Bugcheck code: 0x1000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFFFFF92ACB2F9, 0xFFFFFFFF8D679B70, 0xFFFFFFFF8D679750) I runned msconfig and checked to don't load GUI, restarted but I alway have the BSOD and relative warning at startup... |

@Lexxion
Thank you so much for your rework paper of installing Intel 855 GME to a Win 7 32 bit notebook. Now works it on my ThinkPad X40. One important note: My user name of my installation was 'Jim Knopf'. I had to create a new user account with a single name, then I could change the vgapnp.sys owner status in old DOC command area. :) Best regards, swisstrader |

May be an old thread but Lexxion's guide still works
Thanks,
Just used your guide to install the Intel 8xxx driver on a Toshiba Satellite A45-S121. A day later used it again on a Dell Dimension 2350. Both times it worked great. On the Dell, I copied the original vgapnp.sys file to a USB drive. Then after following the guide, I deleted the vgapnp.sys file I had modified; then copied the original from the USB drive. This made it easier and quicker to restore the file to it's pre-altered state. Thanks again Lexxion |
