Instability with Win 7 x64 + nVidia drivers (9600M GT)

Can heat cause random crashes like those "Aw, Snap" pages and Flash Player crashes? I mean... I thought heat would only crash a system in a whole, like getting a BSOD or graphical glitches.

Yes, or it can be the PSU - heat is the enemy of PC's.

Just another doubt: can partitioning cause problems/crashes like this???

the only thing that seems to work for me is to turn of the Aero settings and return to windows 7 basic. But this is obvioulsy a disappointing approach.

I don't really buy the heat explanation. I have seen to many other posts of problems with this card and windows 7.

Well, unfortunately, I haven't found any software-related solution, and I finally convinced myself this must be a hardware-related issue. I've sent it to some (crap) technical support here, but they were not able even to see the crashes happening, and the only thing they did was to repeat the same tests I have already done before.

This week I've sent it to another technical support, this time a trusted one. The guy who talked to me said that this may be a motherboard issue, which is quite common with HP Pavilion laptops. He also said that there's 90% of chances of repairing it. :) Well, let's wait for the diagnostic...

I also don't think that overheating is the source of the problems. The temperatures are high, but quite average for me.

I have the same problem. The guilty is the graphic card and the problem is rooted to the update from Adobe Flash Player 11. Long story short, I have tried every way to cope with this problem. Unhappily, no positive sign.

The way I think is working are in two main steps and one optional.

1. on one of the videos, right click and in "settings" then disable "hardware acceleration".
2. go to "Device Manger", on "display adapter" right click and disable the Geforce 9600M driver. (or any other problematic graphic card).

Once you did the second step. Windows will use a default driver. Unhappily, the quality will be slashed. However, you can increase the resolution to the maximum. So, do the third step.

3. go "Control Panel", select "Display" and then "adjust resolution" and select the max one.

I hope it works.
