shutdown after installed windows 7 help

    Hi,
A few days ago I installed windows 7.. all was well for a few hours till my screen started to go kinda glitchy then just black and pc froze.. I have been reading some forums on these pc symptoms and it seems to be my graphics driver( Readon x600) my pc is a Dell Dimension 5150 anyone here have any insight as to what might be conflicting with windows 7? if indeed it is a driver problem?
    thanks:)

Can diagnose if it is a driver conflict by booting into safe mode(F8) it works then but not normally is probably a conflict that can be addressed in msconfig.

Reboot your PC and repeatedly press F8, then choose Safe Mode. Update the driver from there - if you can find one.

Is there an equivilent driver that would do the same job? this is getting more complicated than I thought if I can't find a solution I may have to revert back to xp thanks again for your advice

    Install this:

For x64: ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver

For x86: ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver

Install in compatibility mode for Vista SP1. Uninstall the old drivers first and then run driver sweeper. To uninstall, run the right installer above for your architecture and then reboot, run Driver Sweeper, and re-run the installer.

Is compatibility mode = safe mode? and what do you mean by Vista SP1? I'm one of those annoying people that have to be taken through this type of stuff step by step warning!! warning!! I may ask more questions...

    1) Download the x86 driver

    2) Right click the installer, choose the compatibility tab then Vista SP1. Apply.

    3) Double-click the installer. Choose uninstall and express.

    4) Reboot.

    5) Re-run the installer, choosing to Install. Make sure the compatibility settings are still applied.
