Sounds like a bad flash.
Unfortunately 'laptop' doesn't really give us anything really to work with.
Brand, model and flash method may help.
smarteyeball is correct as it sounds like a bad flash... If so, back to the manufacturer it goes.
toshiba satellite a205-s7459
the bios i have was ver 1.9 and i tried to update it to 2.5 then this happen
im never updating my bios lol
maybe this might help, is this the black screen that indicates your windows is not genuine? if yes, some oem, are tied to the bios, for instance dell has a universal windows activation code, but it will only work on a dell bios.
therefore if the bios was changed it would cause the above problem.
If the laptop is not even POSTing - complete blank screen, I'm sorry to say but you will most likely have to take it somewhere to be repaired since the BIOS is corrupted beyond easy recovery.
You could try a local PC store or contact Toshiba directly.
Depending on the mainboard of that laptop, you will need an a specialized tool to 'erase' and 're-flash' the EPROM/EEPROM chip or a replacement EPROM/EEPROM chip if it's detachable.
you more then lucky installed it wrong. Reinstall it.
Have you tried this method yet... (slightly different model, but still should the same basic process...)
