RADEON™ HD 5770 driver install problem

have a (virtually) brand new pc with windows 7 64 bit. The graphics card is
    1GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5770

After switching my pc on today and trying to play a dvd i get this error message

'Windows media player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card'

The exact same DVD played perfectly well yesterday.

Ive downloaded the latest driver from the graphics card website and tried to install it, but I get this error message

'CATALYST install manager has stopped working'
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available'

I tried running it in compatibility mode and its exactly the same

I even tried to install the original driver that came with my pc, and I got the same error message.

Try installing it in safe mode too.

Welcome as Zenoo said try safe mode but you might also want to use driver cleanr or driver sweeper to remove all remants of the driver before you reinstall it.You can find either of them from here http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745 Fabe

Try hitting the F8 button on your keyboard during bootup. Not all systems use the same method to get into safe mode, So please take the time to go to your user cp>then edit system specs and fill in all your specs, this will help other help you now and in the future. Thanks. Fabe

I also have the same driver installation problem. Did you ever find a way to fix yours?
If you did find a way please explain how you did it.
