M-Audio Transit USB  

Does anyone have any experience with M-Audio's Transit USB in Windows 7 64-bit?

Employing M-Audio's BETA Vista 32 or normal XP drivers within Vista's SP1 / XP SP2 compatibility mode, I got the Transit USB running well enough under Windows 7 32 build 7068.

In contrast, the M-Audio's production 64-bit Vista Transit USB drivers have limited functionality within my 64 bit copy of Windows 7 build 7068.

Initially, I installed it with Vista SP1 compatibility mode and the device partially worked: only when both the input and output are enable, i.e., limiting output to 48.0 kHz and 16 bit. Normally, within Windows 7 32-bit / Vista 32, I have been able to disable the input to achieve 24 bit 96 kHz output bandwidth.

I can debug, but I am only familiar with the various UNIXes.

I will probably update to the newest build in a few days -- whenever I get around to downloading it.

Just FYI, M-Audio is on its way to becoming legendary for its poor and belated drivers and the accompanying obfuscated / convoluted installation procedures.

I searched M-Audio's community forum's Windows 7 board and learned absolutely nothing. So I posted a "similar thread" -- I.e., identical -- in hope of catching some fresh advice.

I "up" this topic for I got troubles with Windows 7 and USB Transit too. I don't believe any new drivers will come out , yeah we're just stuck with this brilliant not working piece of technology.

The thing is : I have Windows 7 32 bits build 7600, can you tell me how you got it to work with BETA Vista 32 or normal XP drivers within Vista's SP1 / XP SP2 compatibility mode ???!!!!

I tried to do that but each time the device would not be considered as connected or it would be but without sound or with limited output and huge sound interference due to graphical incompatiblity...Every time I had troubles, whatever I did... And something really irritating is that windows 7 absolutely wanted to download the new drivers : 6.0.1... which were obviously not working...


So, How did you get your Transit to work on Windows 7 32 bits ?? If you could put some screens of the procedure I would be so happy
