    Clean install Sony Vaio

I have done a clean install on my Sony VAIO (windows 7 Ultimate) and now my wireless doesn't work no more.

In my device manager I had an Intel Chipset not working and managed to update the driver through the automated process.

However, in the device manager I have two "other devices" not working

    1. Base System Device
    2. Network Controller

Windows is not able to find the drivers, what do I do? Manufacturers are unknown it tells me..

Yep, model number and version of Windows, 64 or 32bit would be a start?

SONY VAIO VPCF11M1E is the model listed on the right bottom of the screen. Underneath the laptop I see PCG-51212M

I installed ultimate x86, hope this helps...

Welcome to Seven Forums: Your base system device is either a Ricoh or Texas instruments card reader on rare occasions it could be conexant. For the 2 devices that you need drivers for you can use Vista or XP drivers off the Sony site if available using compatibility mode to install Compatibility Mode. You can also right click on the devices.properties>details tab>drop down menu>hardware id (first on list) Copy and Paste the hardware id's and we can try and find working drivers for you. The only 2 laptops I found on Sony US site using your model # are VPCF11MFRX &VPCF11MFXM. Are you located or did you purchase this in the US as other countries will have different models?" This is from the Sony site UK Main Page | Sony Support Europe They list 2 models one ending in H and the other ending in W using the model # you provided. Enter in your model # click on the search button>downloads> then you will have to click on originally installed (operating system) cause they only list Audio and Graphics for 7 You'll see all the drivers listed their. Use compatibility mode>select the original OS>then check the box run in compatibility mode> Install needed drivers. Fabe

He can still use the hardware Id method and we can try and find compatible drivers. And you are correct most of them were 64 bit so my mistake. Fabe

That would be the best solution here I think.
