    Unsupported resolutions in CRT Monitor

I have LG Flatron 775FT. Will be changing in few months to LCD but now I have to deal with the resolution problem. I got proper 775ft.inf driver. It worked on XP and I'm pretty sure it worked also on "7" when I first installed it. For some reason now it doesn't work correctly. Max supported resolution is 1280x1024 and refresh 85Hz, but windows and even nvidia control panel allow me to use even 1600x1200 and over 150Hz. "Hide unsupported resolutions" box is checked. Of course when I use any setting higher than max supported the monitor shows out of range warning.
Maybe some updates changed something because OS doesn't seem to use that correct driver anymore. There's specific set for resolution and refresh rate:
    Code:
    ;------------------------------------; Pre-defined AddReg sections

    [1280]
    HKR,,MaxResolution,,"1280,1024"

    [DPMS]
    HKR,,DPMS,,1

    ;------------------------------------; .AddReg

    [775FT.AddReg]
    HKR,"MODES\1280,1024",Mode1,,"30.0-70.0,50.0-160.0,+,+"
    HKR,,ICMProfile,0,"775FT.ICM"
The same are in /windows/inf/oem2.inf file. Settings were wrong in registry but I changed it from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024. Nothing changed
Could anyone help me with this?

    Welcome!

I guess I'm not entirely clear on what the problem is. Are you able to use the higher resolution?

Since you think it is a driver issue, have you tried right-clicking on your video card in Device Manager, and selecting Update Driver Software?

They can be selected from the list and they shouldn't have. If I use them the monitor goes out of range and shut off after few seconds. In windows I can simply use settings that are correct. The problem is in games. Some of them change resolution during runing or just are programmed to start in higher resolution than supported by my monitor and then it goes out of range. Same problem was in XP with the default driver, but proper 775ft.inf driver fix that problem. In win7 it doesn't work anymore.

Tried updating, reinstalling in normal and safe mode. Doesn't work. Is there some way to manually set max resolution and refresh rate like in linux os?
