It's always good to have the latest DX updates. Unless the game is ultra new, I doubt it'll have the latest DX updates - Download details: DirectX Redist (February 2010)

I Thought Windows 7 comes with direcx 11 out of the box, It should already have Direcx 11 unless a game has installed Direcx 9c as it is a older game or program and needs Direcx 9c.

I've had one or two "old" games prompt me to install DirectX 9 and then warn that the game might not work if you don't. I've always said no and haven't had a problem playing them anyway. I've installed the February 2010 redist on my x64 win 7 PC. It did appear to update some files and it hasn't broken anything that I can tell. I've saved it to a thumb drive along with a few other odds and ends like the XP Mode files, etc.

Install it. It doesn't overwrite DX11. It just adds backwards compatibility. It fixed Hitman: Blood Money for me.

So for benefit of others/non gamers searching for an answer:

    Did you install
    2004 Directx 9.0c
    2008
    2009
    2010
or a mega-mix to enable full 9.0c on Win 7

    Thanks

Only need the latest Redistributable (or web update if the redistributable was previously used), as the latest contains all previous updates and will update/install all versions of DirectX depending on what the OS supports.

Yes, the latest will work. It's for XP, Vista, and 7 and it will tell you that on the download page.
