    HP DeskJet 722C Driver

I have a new Windows 7 laptop networked to my Desktop XP machine. They are both in the same workgroup. I have a DeskJet 722C connected to the XP machine & it is working fine. When I try to connect/install this printer to my new Windows 7, it can't find the driver. I checked with HP & they said they don't have one for "7" but it is contained in Microsofts stash, which it isn't. I tried to connect using the 710C, 720C & 500C printers, but none of those drivers work. Does anyone know if there is a generic driver or some other driver that might work?

    Merci

    Welcome to the forums effjay!

HP website for your printer drivers: Select your operating system HP Deskjet 722c Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
Shows a Vista driver... which outta do it!

If it wont install or print natively, try compatability mode by rt clicking and choosing Troubleshoot compatability. Remember to first uninstall any printer drivers you have tried previously.

NOTE*** I just clicked the Vista link on the above link... as you said it says there is no driver and should be in Vista... No mention of Win7!

Here is the MS Win7 Hardware info on your printer... Windows 7 Compatibility for DeskJet 722C: Drivers, Updates, Downloads

I tried, but HP says that the Vista Driver is already in Windows 7. So I have to find out where it's located - for example the folder address or possibly how to determine the printer model from its file name. Anyone who could help will be appreciated. Also the I'm using Windows 7 64 bit & I understand that Vista has a 64 bit version also.

This may prove tough as there actually is no HP 722C driver specific even to Vista, let alone Win 7. The "universal" driver built into Vista is pretty limited.

I found the answer to those who have similar problems with using an HP DeskJet 722C connected to an XP computer & trying to print from a Windows 7 Laptop. I found the answer on HP Forums. Basically there is a patch that needs to be installed. You set up the port & then install the driver for the HP DeskJet 720C. Then do to the link provided & download the 3 files. Put them where they tell you too even overwriting what might be there already. Then by magic it works.

Here is the magic link to the HP Forums. Read the message click the link & follow the directions.
