Internet Disconnects at Random times.  

Hi guys,
Just wondering if you could help me out with a little problem that I've had with my computer ever since I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

I have a motherboard with two network jacks, but I only use one. They use the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller driver (see attached) which was installed when I had Vista. I think upgrading to 7 caused a small incompatibility with this driver.

A little more about the problem, it seemingly happens randomly, but when it does happen, it seems to go through a phase of breaking again soon after I fix it by running Diagnostic which simply resets my router. By the way my computer is hooked up to a NETGEAR router which is serving some other people's wireless laptops. It seems to happen when I use a variety of internet-using programs at once like FTP clients and Firefox.

I don't really know how much more information you need, any ideas on how to fix this?

Both devices seem to be installed correctly and working. I would systect that homegroup ma be causing your problem. you can verify that by setting up a new connection using workgroup. if it works you can disable IPv6 and kill homegroup

I'm not sure who your isp is but I was having the same problem. Being that I just upgraded I thought it might be windows seven as well but I was wrong. I am using the same router as you as well. When I called my ISP (road runner/ brighthouse) they asked me login into my router by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. The login is admin and the password is "password".After that Click on wireless connections under the set up on the left. Set the channel to 1. I'm not sure if this is your issue but it worked for me.

Neither of those options seemed to work. I tried the homegroup one and then the second one.

My ISP is CenturyTel, and I was able to change the channel to 1, but I forgot to make aware that my computer is plugged in through cat5, not over the wireless.
