    Hello i really need help...

hi im new to this forum and i am not sure if you guys could help solve my problems.

My old Laptop Acer5500 , My Video Card is Ati x700 and i recently downloaded and installed OS:Window 7 (Microsoft.Windows.7.32Bit.Build.6801) in my C drive. Ive found out i couldnt install my previous ATI driver ( said something about doesnt Support OS), then after that i searched the web and found and downloaded Catalyst 32-bit Windows 7 Preview Driver from ati.com.

i found out after i have installed the Driver, it didnt work... which finally lead me to this forum.

im am a newbie towards computers and hope if you guys would help me step by step, Thanks!!

hi win7 updates might have a suitable driver for your video card uninstall the driver you installed and go to updates and see what that will install for your video card

How much MB have you got on the Card? No one knows what the graphics card requirement for Windows 7 is (Most likely to be more then 256MB) The ATI X700 is quite old.

Hi, kangarulzx, and welcome to the forums.

That video card is rather old, but Windows Update should have tried to install an older version of the ATI drivers. Check your Device Manager to see what is listed under Display Adapters in terms of type and driver.

You could also try installing your old (XP/Vista?) working ATI drivers in compatibility mode.

Have you tried this one? Run the install.exe in compatibility mode for XP SP2

    Hello kangarulzx.

I've a similar problem. But it's only the Catalyst Control Center which doesn't work.
    My drivers are correctly installed.

Try update your drivers by Microsoft/Windows Update, or by the Devices Manager

its not how much mb (going for mobility radeon)
but the way it uses it...
i have a hd3200 and it flies since its has a core of a 2400 but with only 64mb of ram..
buts its a IGP.... (meaning it can use main memory)
    and with aero it flies....
