go to control panel>hardware and sound>power options
click change plan settings on whatever plan your on then change advanced power settings
find the card reader and click the plus sign, there should be something like "allow windows to turn this device off to save power" or "selective suspend" turn it off
    Hi Severedsolo,

Good Idea, but I do not find an Option for a Cardreader. U sure there is such an entry for all devices?
to be perfectly honest, i have no idea, was just floating an idea, as i have a similar problem with my wireless adapter if i forget to unplug it before it sleeps, shame it didnt work though
