Windows 7 Drivers For HP Pavillion dv4000

Just recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 from XP and it works fine as far as my keyboard, and touchpad and things. But, I have no sound driver at all. I went to the HP site and looked up my sound driver and it was only developed for XP and doesn't work with Windows 7. I even tried the compatibility mode to run the driver and same thing. Some help would do a great deal for me right now.

    Maxser,
Does your computer still actually have sound? And did you use Windows Updater? My soundcard driver was updated through their and I was all set after that.

    Let us know,

Apparently this problem is wide spread. There is only an XP 32-Bit Driver (link) for your system. Your best bet is to install that via Compatibility Mode, though it sounds as if you've already tried that.

You could try this version of the driver as well. You still need to install via compatibility mode. Otherwise I suggest either buying a usb sound card or a new computer.

    Links to USB Sound Cards:

Amazon.com: Creative Labs Xmod USB Sound Card for PC & Mac: $30
Amazon.com: Creative Labs SB1090 USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Audio System: $60

You can go even cheaper but cheaper sound cards are usually junk and sound like nails on a chalkboard.

What exact model laptop do you have? Which sound driver are you looking for?
