go to page one and page three of this conexant topic on this forum to find out how to get the line you will need to insert. Then go to the link I posted to find out how to edit the file and what information to edit into the file.
You will also need to find the driver package that works with your product. Preferably I believe it will be a vista driver package and most preferably a vista 64bit if you are using win7 64bit. If you are using a 32bit win7 version then get a 32bit vista version. You can probably get the driver package from a XP driver but I'm not sure about that.
Get your driver package from HP just insert your product to the left panel on this page Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion ze4365US Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
Your going to need to do some reading but this is not impossible for most everybody I think.
The instructions on this page 64bitdrivers.com:: Conexant AC'97 Audio Driver for Vista/Windows 7 x64 he instructs to change the ba file but if you right click on that file you see it is an ini file. You have to use the cpl308ba.inf file because it is the inf file, right click on that file and you will see it is the inf file. The inf file is the file you edit.
For me it took maybe 5 to 10 minutes for win7 to get the driver installed. I waited a good 25 minutes before I rebooted. I heard the little bling sound on shut down and sure enough came back up working sound.

Oh yea, you don't need to really do anything on page one and three on this seven forum we are posting on except learn how to find the line below that is in parenthesis. But if you need to find out
who your chip is made by then by all means go through the steps to find out what the name brand is.
I placed the double parenthesis there. This line will be different for each type computer sound chip.
    ((PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_0506107B&REV_02))
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_0506107B
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401

ok well, going from his instructions on the other site you will copy the cpl308ba.inf file in the unzipped driver package into notepad.
then name the original .inf file to cpl308ba.old now you have the file you can revert to.
so you look for these sentences below.

    [Conexant.NTamd64]
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C&REV_02
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C&REV_02
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401

you will only be concerned with the first sentence.
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C&REV_02

then replace the second half starting at PCI with your sentence. so you will have
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_3091103C&REV_02

The save as this notepad file in the same directory as the cpl308b.old and save as cpl308ba.inf
then follow the instructions to uninstall your present driver then update your driver again only point it at the driver in this folder we are talking about. It will use the inf file that you have altered to see your sound device and install it correctly.

In my case I only had three sentences in the inf file not the eight sentences he posted above.
so when I was done my inf file only had these three sentences not eight.
    [Conexant.NTamd64]
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30A4103C&REV_02
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_308B103C
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_308E103C

You won't change any thing else or delete any thing else in the inf file just that first sentence and only the second half after the coma so just the parenthesis area below, but don't add any parenthesis I added those to show you.
    %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,(((PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30A4103C&REV_02)))

In his case where he has double entries to make eight lines it may be that both entries should have the first sentence changed to be identical.

Lastly, the cpl308ba.inf file may not be named this in all driver packages (I don't know) but it will definitely end with .inf so just right click on all the files in that folder looking for the inf file. The inf file is the file we select as the driver file.
