Only 32-bit drivers are available for that exact hardware: Conexant Systems, Inc. - Sound - Conexant AC-97 Audio

Since it's a re-branded Realtek device you can try to force install the drivers here: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/561353/jynxy.zip

Expand the archive above and use device manager to update driver for the problem device, when it asks to search for the driver select Browse..., then Let me pick..., then click Have Disk... Browse to where you expanded the archive and choose each .inf file in order until you find one that works and enables your audio and the features you desire. Make sure to roll back the driver update between attempts or you'll end up with a complete mess.

I have pretty much the same problem with choppy, lagging audio in HP dv8000 with Conexant AC-97. None of the steps above solves this annoying problem. Please help, I'm desperate as I have tried to solve this in a couple of previous Beta builds as well - nothing seemes to be working

If baarod could refresh the link (http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/561353/X8...pt-7738356.cab - doesn't work anymore) for the real driver it would be deeply appreciated :)

By the way, the device ID:
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_02
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401

    Thank you in advance!

I am in the exact same situation. Same device ID and OS. I tried the jynxy 32 bit driver recommended but it won't even let me install it. The only inf file in there is hpa3082 and when I try to install it I get a message that says "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."

I've been trying for days now to get the sound device working on my laptop with no luck.

For any others that have this problem my laptop is a HP Pavilion zd8000. The specific model is zd8215us. Hopefully we can get it working and others searching for a solution will find it here.

jynxy went back to a 32-bit OS. You should too as there's no reason to run 64-bit on your hardware. Your memory maxes out a 2GB and 64-bit is intended for 4GB and up. 64-bit is not some kind of special club. There's nothing inherently cool or better about it other than the fact that it can and does use more memory for everything.
