Under what language or OS? Cause when I did the drop down box for Windows 7 and choosing the English language, the site comes up blank for a driver.

This is using the link you provided. Even clicking the "All" tab reveals nothing.
Vista, English. There are no drivers for win7.

Hehe... didn't think about the vista drivers. You could try them, but if they don't work (wouldn't be surprised either way), try the latest version of Vuescan - Canon D1230U Scanner Driver and Software.

    Good luck.

Has anyone had any luck with using the Canoscan D1230U in Vista compatibility mode on Win 7 either 32 or 64 bit?

this is a link for the XP driver Canon CanoScan D1230U 6.1.1c Driver for Windows 9X/ME/NT/2K/XP/2003/Vista/XP X64/2008 Free Download - Softpedia you will have to use compatibility mode to install the driver Compatibility Mode hope this helps
I found the driver for the D1230U and downloaded it into a functioning Windows XP computer. It would not install, kept asking for something on a CD. I need to get that accomplished before I try the same thing on a Win 7 machine with XP capability, or on the Win 7 with a real XP in dual boot mode.

In looking at the install inf file I saw sections for several operating systems but none for XP. Strange.

What do I need to do to get that simple driver to install on a simple XP machie?

No luck with any combination. I had the same problem in trying to install the driver on my XP laptop because it wanted a CD which is lost.

Has anyone tried to install the driver on the XP that runs inside the advanced Win 7? I can't afford to upgrade if it doesn't work. Can anyone find the CD, mine is lost after moving.

    I really need that scanner.

I have the same problem, that is I downloaded the driver for XP and tried to install it on an old but functional XP machine and it needed a disk. No combinations of settings allowed me to do that.

My end objective is to find out whether I can install it on a true XP, and if that works, try upgrading the Windows 7 I have to the next level and then installng the down-loadable XP and the driver.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I really like that scanner because I use two sizes of film/slides and also like to do flat bed scanning. What a wast for this scanner to be scrapped because there not that I can find that have the features the 1230U has.

Sadly that does not come up when you go to the site an select Windows 7 as the operating system. I does come up when you select Windows XP.

Does anyone know whether that drive, version d, will run on the Windows XP that can be loaded onto the next higher level of Windows 7? Right I have the pre-installed version, Home Premium and it cannot provide XP service but I don't want to upgrade unless I am sure the scanner will run on the XP which can be made to reside on the updgraded Windows 7.
