HP DV9000 + Windows 7 = No Sound and No Coprocessor
Hi,
I have a HP DV9000 running Windows 7. The other night my sound just stopped working. The icon in the tray shows a red X over the speaker. I had just ran a Windows update earlier in the day. All of a sudden I got no sound. Tried it with headphones and still no sound.
I went into the device manager and there is no icon anymore for sound, game controller, etc.
I then saw under "Other Devices" that my Coprocessor has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point.
Here's what I did to try and fix these (which by the way none of this has helped):
1: Uninstalled the latest update
2: Right clicked on Coprocessor to find driver and it says no driver can be found
3: Went to both Nvidia's website and HP and Microsoft's websites and download various drivers and nothing has worked.
4: Tried a system restore to a few weeks prior and I still have no sound and the coprocessor is still disabled.
5: Ran a system update again and no luck
6: Created an account at Windows Seven Forum (Still waiting for the results on this one
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
