That made me think of another thing, I read where the XP computer has to be running if you want to share. A very important point, but one that I don't think would enter many peoples minds, a much overlooked thing and I bet has been the only problem some people can't get their printer to share. If this is nec why then don't more people mention it or is this some thing that is taken for granted, and every one should know.

I do at times only run the one computer, don't always have both running at the same time.

    Thanx...Gunny

Hi... Thanx for all the good info. I hope no is thinking I am tying to b a smart guy here, to the contrary I am trying very hard to learn. And some of these simple questions I ask my seem like I am a dummy, but I ask them so I and others might learn. I know I have gone to other forums and have done a lot of readfing, and have come cross a lot of answers to problems that were so simple and why didn't I think of that. So I really appreciate all the answers you can give to me no matter how simple they may sound. I think we are all here to learn some thing.

    Thanx...Gunny

Jimbo.. I was following you directions and when it came time to change the port and put in the \\XPMACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER. It comes back with "The network path is not found". Now what.

    Thanx...Gunny

Hey Gunny, I just setup my network printer (on my parents computer) which is running XP. All I did is clicked add network printer, and it found their printer. It is currently searching for drivers, but I expect no problems. Try that and see if it works for you.

Yup, worked great, I just had to find the driver myself, which took less than 20 secs.

    Hi Lord bob

Well I did the same thing and it gets to test paper and there it sits, nothing happens. It shows the printer big as life.

    Thanx...Gunny
