Drivers for SATA378 TX2plus

I am trying to get my onboard SATA378 controller to work. Win7 recognizes it, installs the driver, but then after reboot it says that the device can't be started. I have tried the XP drivers and the Win2000 drivers for both the ATA mode and for the RAID mode. Neither have worked. I have seen others with the same problem and they said that they got it going using the XP drivers, but for some reason mine doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise I am crippled to using only two hard drives on SATA.

I take it that you are installing it with compatibility function.

There isn't an installer to run in compatibility mode. You download the drivers from the website and it is just a folder full of sys and dll files.
I was able to get it working and I wish somebody had posted this explanation before. I had to figure it out the hard way. Here is the problem: when I go to the Asus website, the newest drivers that they have listed are dual mode drivers. The newest driver is Version When you install it in WinXP, they work whether or not you have the controller in IDE/ATA mode or RAID mode (because the driver is a dual mode driver). The older drivers on the other hand only work when you have the bios set to that mode and have the correct driver installed for that mode.
For some reason Win7 can't handle the dual mode driver correctly and so you actually need to install the older driver which is a single mode driver. I had the BIOS set to have the controller be in IDE/ATA mode and I then installed the older Promise SATA378 Driver V1.00.0.26 (ATA Mode) driver for WinXp. It installed just fine, I rebooted, and presto! My drive was in My Computer!! I hope this helps others that have the same problem.

Thanks for posting this. I spent a lot of time trying to install the latest XP drivers and it would not work. My promise controller was in IDE mode as well (not raid). Then I read your post and downloaded the old xp drivers from the Asus site and it worked! I didn't even have to re-boot.

The driver I found on the asus site was labeled incorrectly as (Promise FastTrak 378 ATA Driver V1.00.1.30) but it was indeed version 1.26.

Thanks again.
