D-Link Drivers not recognized

I'm trying to install a D-Link DWA-130 wireless network adapter to a PC running Windows 7. The driver that came with the device didn't work, as well as the updated drivers from the manufacturer's website didn't work. Windows 7 keeps saying that the driver isn't installed. When you check the device manager, it is seeing the device, but has an error for no driver. Any ideas?

Hi there Odinsong welcome to Sevenforums

I have an idea as I have had similar issues. Are you running a 64 bit version of Windows by any chance?

If you are, then I would place money on the fact that it has installed XP drivers rather than Vista ones.

To fix:
Remove the Wireless adapter.
Do a system restore to a point before you installed the drivers.
Install the drivers in Compatibility Mode with Vista (right click the setup file>Properties>Compatibility
Then try again

Changing it to Win XP SP2 compatibility worked. However, now even though it is seeing the network, it will not connect to the internet. Any clues?

Did you do a system restore like I said?

Yes I did, but it keeps coming back with a DNS server isn't responding error, and all the other wireless devices in the house are working fine.
