Same issue here - 403. Attached are the 32 and 64 bit ZIPs
(latest version, no installer, but with Readme - easy to handle).

    Regards, Jo

Edit: Meanwhile, one may download the whole stuff (incl. Installer) from MajorGeeks too.

IM a long time user of ShellFolder Fix and have found it invaluable from day one, it worked flawlessly in 7, 8 and 8.1 and Ive just finished installing/upgrading to Windows 10 and I'm a bit saddened by the fact that some of its polished finish seems to have been rubbed off.

I have a number of folders which the software was previously remembering, and with it this it was remembering that some folders I wanted to have the navigation pane showing, but on most of the remembered folders for movies and music, I didn't want the navigation pane showing.

Now in Windows 10 this seems to have gone out of the window. Navigation panes seems to need to be either ON or OFF...

Ive tried uninstalling and re installing all to no avail.

If I'm doing something wrong Id love to be pointed in the right direction....

I really want my perfect folders back.

Many thanks in advance for any help/info

    J

Hello freaks of Windows :) (like me), I've registered in this forum just only because one reason, to say something very important about this application.

Basically I need help to contact the author to explain to he a bug that I discovered and to explain how he can solve it, at least one solution would be with the usage of Windows UI Automation framework (from .Net class library), but since I don't have access to the source-code I can't know which methodology and logic he used so I cannot give to him proper ideas.

Or at least if its too much work for him I would like to contact the author to ask him for access to the source code then I could implement this very important fix which makes the application insane because its behavior. I seen that the app was developed in VC++.

I noted that the author is tweaker, but he has not logged since 2011. Then... I don't know what to do. Someone has the source code or maybe could contact the author?.

    Please contact me at ElektroStudios@ElHacker.Net

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now Ill talk about the craziest bug...

As we all know, Windows 10 comes with a aesthetic change about how the explorer windows are positioned in the screen, now all the Explorer windows that you open will be positioned in cascade view:

And it will cause disorganization problems like this:

At first view ShellFolderFix is usefull to fix that behavior, but more than a fix its a troublemaker because ShellFolderFix doesns't care about if you are manually navigating trough folders or not in an opened Exporer instance, so many times your current explorer window will move to "random" positions (previously saved positions of other closed windows) like a retarded, so the user experience of Explorer navigation will become a nightmare, because ShellFolderFix doesn't prevent the repositioning of a window in that common and basic circunstances, which are using Explorer to navigate trough folders by doing clicks on the directory tree.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are the steps to reproduce or demonstrate the bug:

    1. Create a random folder in a random directory, let's say: C:\Folder1\Folder2\Folder3

    2
    . Create a Shortcut for 'Folder1', 'Folder2' and 'Folder3' on the desktop.

    3. Open 'Folder3' shortcut, and "save" its position at topright corner by moving the window to that corner and closing the window.

    4. Do the same with 'Folder2', but this time "save" its position at the middle of screen.

    5. Do the same with 'Folder1', but this time "save" its position at top-left of the screen.

    6. Now, reopen the 'Folder1' shortcut, an explorer window should open in 'C:\Folder1' location;
now manually navigate to 'Folder2' subfolder (C:\Folder1\Folder2)

At this point you will see that THE CURRENT EXPLORER WINDOW will move to middle of the screen.

    7. Now, being at 'C:\Folder1\Folder2' location in the same Explorer window, manually navigate to 'Folder3' subfolder (C:\Folder1\Folder2)\Folder3).

At this point you will see that THE CURRENT EXPLORER WINDOW will move to top-right corner of the screen.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The bug can be resolved easy, as I said using Windows UI Automation or in defect the win32 functions related to window/control hierarchy spying, by determining whether the target Exlorer Window has the "level up" button or the "go back" button enabled, simple as that, or in defect by reading the navigation bar history to determine if there are more than one path, this way shellfolder fix will not move the current explorer window.

Please, tweaker, or someone who can contact him, or someone who has the source-code, contact me for this, I can help to improve the application by talking with the author to explain how he can solve it, or by fixing that bug by myself.

    Thanks for read.

    Snap assist

Moreover, in Windows 10, Shellfolderfix has strong incompatibility issues with the Snap Assist feature. it doesn't remembers the position of the windows resized with it.

Is it possible to set up ShellFolderFix to always open in the same position and have the same size no matter what folder is opened and have one value stored in the database for every folder?

Will this utility work under Windows 10, or do I need to remove it first before upgrading to Windows 10?

SFF steals focus from the Google search input when

FYI In IE 11 SFF shifts focus from the Google search input box to the "A better way to browse the web" window when it's on the Google Search page making it impossible to enter text in the search field. If you close the "A better way to browse the web" window it's fine, but it took me a while to figure out what was going on so I thought I'd share the discovery.
