I am now 99% sure that Winamp has been causing SC to crash when both are running.
I have played for 3 weeks w/o Winamp with no crashes.
I used to get crashes that occured at the most random times. The game and computer would just freeze but the in Winamp will continue playing.
I hope this info helps somebody
I have identical crashes! I thought my gfx card was malfunctioning, so I sold it and got a new one and I still have crashes (9800GTX to 9800GTX+). I've tried to play SC on Windows XP sp3 32bit and Windows 7 32bit -- crashes in both systems. Never tried on a x64 though. The crashes occur randomly, sometimes after 10min and other times after 1 hr. I've applied the color fix, updated my drivers, none worked for me.
If anyone has any insights into this i'd greatly appreciate it!!!! thanks
Starcraft has NEVER EVER crashed on a windows XP system, even with a multicore setup.
Those corrupt graphics crashes are either gfx or a bugged mainboard.
Just wanted to reply to say that I cannot recall my starcraft crashing while not using winamp, I can recall my starcraft crashes often while winamp is playing! Vista 64..
I will play starcraft without winamp on and reply if it crashes.. But winamp and starcraft on vista 64 = crashes.
its cause by explorer theres link on how to clsoe it and restart it when exiting entering scbw a few friends of mine tested it and work prefect.
Windows 7 - StarCraft Brood Wars Fix
I looked at this.
Please note: That this has no error checking, and will close all your Windows Explorer sessions as well as the shell. The user needs to be aware of this so you do not cancel copying or moving files or if something important is being done with “explorer.exe”.
If users report that this works I can create a Command Script that does this with some error checking and a warning etc.
the crash has NOTHING TO DO WITH EXPLORER.EXE.
Everyone here is trying to help each other get this wonderful game to work in Windows 7. But you keep slamming people or making posts that are not helpful or just plain rude. Again this is a friendly forum and everyone here is trying to help. Take a moment and explain why this crash has nothing to do with explorer.exe or how you know it doesn't or why some people think it does.
1. because it occurs even without explorer
2. because people have already posted on multiple forums, multiple times (including this one) that it doesn't work.
I atleast read the thread before jumping in with idea's, something most of these 1 post wannabe wonders failed to do so.
