oblivion rocks.
Another good game I'd have to say is Bioshock. that was by far the most fun i had with a game.(cant wait for the sequel)
Bioshock - Best ever
Grid - Best driving game ever
Counter Strike Source - Im hooked
Cryostatis demo - looks very interesting.
Wolverine - Awsome
And last but not least, im loving it is Grand Ages Rome lol, if your into that sort of thing.
But Dead Space FTW!!
Fear 2 - Very nice graphically and playable shooter... very low resources needed
CoD 5 - The WWII saga continues... shooter, nice graphics, low requirements as well.
CoD 4 - Morden Warfare war shooter... Excellent graphics, a little heavy on the requirement side but plays well.
Crysis - Another Sci-Fi shooter, graphically intense, HEAVY on requirements
Crysis - Warhead... same crysis different character, better graphics, easier requirements
Half-Life 2... done by Valve... 'nuff said... Need to play it
Far Cry 2... not even remotely close to the Original, NOT made by Crytek, another shameful Ubisoft game, arcade-ish and repetitive at best, it is supposed to be a shooter but you could confuse it with a Car Endurance Race game... play it and you'll see
Vegas 2... Another Ubisoft shooter, they call it tactical, I call it a shooter with some hints of tactical, much better graphics than the epic fail Vegas 1 but the plot on this one is just childish at best... it is playable though but the "What could have been if they applied a little more coding" is what gets to you really.
Yep, Ubisoft and I are not playing nice as of late!
I don't play Online though!
This thread is my problem with gaming. I have wanted to get into gaming and every time I try to get advice, one guy tells me "XXXX" and the next guy says "NO NO NO that game sucks....go with "YYYY"" I guess just get one that seems cool and see what I like huh? I am going to build a rig this fall-winter so guess I'll start off with something my new rig can handle and see if I'm a gamer.
well, then .... play solitaire for the rest of your natural life. its simple, straight forward, and fun. + it's free
you don't have to be balls deep in an epic online killing spree to be a gamer. some people just like easy-going stuff, just to entertain them for a while. maybe thats you..
nate42nd, it's all subjective. Ask a crowd what their favorite OS is? Ask them about their favorite ice cream? You'll get a pile of answers. What I hope is to hear about something new or obscure that might interest me. I've been through most of the suggestions here, already. In fact, I re-installed NWN2 and the expansions just for fun. Of course, Fallout 3 is locked and loaded - I only with Bethesda would release a x64 version so I could really push the performance. Nonetheless, I just hope to get some ideas and see what everyone else is playing.
And this thread is exactly what I asked for; opinions.
Without even knowing which style of game you want to play, that makes it even harder to offer opinions. With such broad requests, obviously there is going to get a lot of varied and differing opinions.
Pretty much all the games mentioned so far are good/ok games in their own right.
But yes, choosing where to start can be difficult
Well, you should try a few oldies and classics of each category... dunno, like DOOM for FPS (the first DOOM), Diablo II for nice addictive hack and slash... maybe Baldur's Gate for RPGs... (back in the era when gameplay and story was important)
Anyhow... you could also try the great weird things like Braid and World of Goo~~
