Why do all my games freeze?

Hi, I recently made a PC and decided to load up some games. I first installed Burnout Paradise, started playing it at maxed settings when it froze for a second and then it started up again where it froze from.

I updated the graphics card driver and nothing changed, it always freezes after a few mins for a few seconds.

Could it be a faulty graphics card? or just some settings I need to change?

I have a XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB Graphics Card.

    Thanks.

I tested the RAM and they're all fine, no errors.

Are you over clocking your Graphic card ? If so try reverting to the stock setting and see if the problem still happens. If it does get back to us.

Well I had the same card for a week or so and had the same issue and went through pages and pages of how to fix it. After trying every thing mentioned on two Win7 forums plus from the manufactures web site I finally changed back to NVIDIA. All the years I only ran NVIDIA and this was my first ATI card I had ever tried.

    ATI or NVIDIA

    CPU intel i7 920 @ 2.66gHz + Graphics Card Radeon HD 5770 1GB

Nearly the same configuration I had

This may help you I hope so 5770 very slow in games, fine otherwise - ATI - Graphic-Displays

I was just playing cod4 online and it didn't freeze. It's only single player that freezes.
