Crysis runs better on XP than 7 why?

    Hi guys,

I really fancied going through crysis again so i installed it on my 64bit windows 7 only to find that it runs like a dog!!! I set my settings to optimal which puts everything to high as it did on XP for me but im constantly going from 60fps down to 30fps all the time and it looks terrible. I just cant work out why it runs better on xp and now i have a more powerfull system with more ram and its like 10x worse. Im running the 10.3 ati drivers as these seem the best ones they have done for a while. I dont get any probs with any other games just so shocked with crysis running so bad.

Anyone else run this on win 7 64bit?

All I can think off is that Crysis was not a very optimized game, less so for Win 7 but I recall having huge issues when I played it on XP and then none when I played again with my new rig and Win 7.

I would uninstall and re install fresh sound & video drivers and try again...

I've tested this in Vista and XP, Windows 7 gave me better bench tests in Crysis.

You need to install the patches for that game, there are two of them, the 1.2 and the 1.2.1, the game runs badly without them installed.

Crysis runs great for me in Win7 64bit.
I never ran it in XP though, just Vista and 7.

Sounds like you're running DX9 mode in XP and DX10 in 7. If you have a DX10 card, then DX10 mode will automatically run.

As already said - apply the two updates!

Stick it on "Vista SP1" compatability mode - works best for me on a Barton 3000+ 2gb ram 32bit!

Right click on the crysis icon >properties >compatability

Yeah Crysis runs great for me using Windows 7 x64. No need to use Compatibility modes.
