Windows 7: Team Fortress 2 issues

Renaming the TF2 folder will cause steam to re-download all the content that is stored in the TF2 folder because it wont be able to find it, as you will have re-named it.

Settings are still stored in the registry don't forget to delete that too.

@solarnoise: try disabling your sound card in device manager and then run the game and see if it plays the same. if the lag / stutters are gone, check out this thread for the fix: https://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/31980-lag-online-games-windows-7-a.html#post331641

Dont touch the registry, it wont fix anything for TF2.
That and the fact that by the sounds of it you are unfamiliar with the registry, I wouldnt go near it

Team Fortress 2 Low Texture Bug?
Hi, I've been playing some Team Fortress 2 recently, and it's a great game. However after joining a server yesterday, all of the graphics are low quality. I have checked the settings and they say that everything is on max graphics as usual. Screenshots (You may have to view larger image to see):

It works but isn't smooth. Graphics card is ATI 4870 and I have the latest driver but it seems choppy. It may be the network code. My ping is typically 20 and now 40, which is low. I had some of this early in Vista and it was mostly the video card drivers which they did fix.
